This piece is inspired by the extraordinary work of Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Ecstasy of Saint Teresa (1647–1652) Marble, life-size, Cappella Cornaro, Santa Maria della Vittoria, Rome. who also designed the setting of the chapel in marble, stucco and paint. The commission was completed in 1652. and thus I begin a new series in homage to Bernini the leading sculptor of his day, with a very detailed selection of his work in sculpture around Rome. capturing my vision and inspiration from my recent visit to Italy and what I was able to witness and absorb with great admiration Bernini’s masterpiece in person is inexplicable.
