The Confidante Hotel Art Exhibit
( mon·o·chrome )
This series talks about that key moment that we sometimes experience. The one that pushes us back to basics; to regroup ideas. Black and white ( mon·o·chrome ) the most simple of all. No distractions to blind the light or the focus of a good intention. The misinterpretation of a state of mind. We have the opportunity to leave a positive footprint. In order to see color it is necessary to understand the duality of life, the pragmatism that we only live once and we are all chosen to have the chance to experience life. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
I would like to take you on this journey and show you what happens when you take a moment and step back. You will be able to see things that you miss when you get caught up in the day to day. When I started painting only black and white the first seven canvases made me realize all the different choices and ideas that I couldn’t imagine possible or take the risk to try because I was comfortable. Making people comfortable.
Chapter 1: Monochrome
A series of black and white paintings. A group conversation. A multiverse of faces representing that internal voice we all have. Painting number seven is a culmination, a union of all these voices represented in only one face. The calm after the storm, the necessary serenity and patience that gives birth to Chapter 2: Primary.
Chapter 2: Primary
The rebirth of color. Primary captures the simplicity of my surroundings. Inspired by architecture and cubism. The interlude of two styles. This inner series consists of two paintings and is a work in progress.
Chapter 3: Otherworldly
Paintings that expand beyond the limits of imagination. Those places that we only reach in our dreams. The worlds we can’t see with our naked eye but we sense are there, like the deepest oceans or the farthest galaxies.
